Sellars

Brooke Sellars started a career teaching Middle Grades Language Arts and Social Studies, in 2008, in her hometown of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Her passion for becoming a teacher was fueled by the influence of many esteemed educators who mentored her throughout her adolescent years.  Ms. Sellars received a Bachelor of Arts from North Carolina Central University, where she originally dreamed of becoming a broadcast journalist; little did she know her classroom would become her newsroom and her students would become the journalists.  After five years of teaching in North Carolina, Ms. Sellars moved to the Atlanta area, where she was hired to teach Language Arts at Riverdale Middle School. Ms. Sellars led the Gifted Team and became co-chair of the Language Arts Department.

She received a Master of Education in Reading Instruction from the University of West Georgia.  Shortly after being voted teacher of the teacher in 2019, Ms. Sellars became an instructional coach at Morrow Middle School, supporting teachers in technology integration, professional development, collaborative planning, and effective data uses. In addition to her responsibilities as an instructional coach, she has served as a professional development facilitator for the Secondary Language Arts Department. Ms. Sellars is dedicated to teaching and mentoring middle school students; she is determined to ensure that all students are equipped with the necessary skills to be career and college-ready! She is excited about embarking upon a career in school leadership.
Ms. Sellars believes that“literacy is the foundation of all dimensions of learning.” She enjoys reading, journaling, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
