C. Michael Houze, Jr. is a native of Clayton County.  He graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1991 and received a B. S. in Biology (1995) and an M. S. in Biology from Georgia Southern University (1998).  During graduate school, he taught biology labs to non-major students and fell in love with the teaching profession.  He began his life in education in 1999 teaching science at Jonesboro High School.

Michael Houze received his teaching certification during the summer of 2000 and became science department chairperson in 2002.  He earned his gifted in-field endorsement in 2002 and his leadership certification in 2004.  He became an assistant principal at Morrow High School in 2007, and in 2011, he became an assistant principal at Mount Zion High School.  He earned his coaching endorsement in 2015.

In 2018, Michael Houze became a Personnel Review Officer with the Division of Equity and Compliance.  In November of 2022, his passion for being back in a school setting was overwhelming and he humbly accepted the position of the 8th grade assistant principal at Morrow Middle School.  He is excited about the challenge and is dedicated to establishing positive relationships and working with all stakeholders to promote student achievement.  He enjoys writing music, playing video games, fishing, and traveling.
